Surprise!

Back in November, I was asked to bake cupcakes for a surprise birthday party at work. My co-worker planned a birthday party for her younger sister and invited our office. As you can already tell, I had a huge responsibility ahead of me for I had not baked for my office in months.

I decided to keep these cupcakes simple for it was what she had asked me for. The only thing my co-worker requested was to make half of the order chocolate and the other half vanilla cupcakes. I enjoyed making these for I really wanted my co-worker's sister to be surprised on her day. My co-worker when out of her way to make her sister feel special...and to show her how much she loves her! Is it incredible to feel loved by others?

This surprise birthday party brought back memories of the time I turned 21 years old and my family and friends surprised me on my day. A couple days before my "special day," I had called my mom to asked if she was available for my birthday and she had told me she was called to work on that day. I, for some weird reason, started crying to my roommates because of the "bad news." Was there something wrong with me? I only wanted to spend the day with my family! Then, my friends asked to dedicate the morning to them since they wanted to celebrate me with breakfast. It was really special because they had never done such thing for me (hahaha!). My good friend even bought me a dress days before my birthday to wear. That morning, we all hung out, talked, played games, and watched movies. I was not aware that they were all in this surprise birthday thing with my family.

At that time, I did not have a car so the girls decided to drop me off at my house. Little did I know the surprise I was coming home to. I cried when I saw the cake, balloons, my family and friends. I was not expecting such surprise and they had sure surprised me! Now, I hold dearly to these memories for my group of friends is different...some of us have gone our ways and we do not even keep in touch. However, the moments made with them are unforgettable. I came to understand that there is A Time for Everything (Ecclesiastes 3) and that was my time with them :)

Remember that what you do for someone today can mean the world to them. Do not hesitate to show or tell the ones you love how much they mean to you for one day you and them will remember the time spent and will be grateful for them. Make memories with others (in a safe way), and do not be afraid for those moments are worth the time!

I sure hope you enjoyed reading my new story. Until next time! May the Lord be with ya'll!

To Sadies or not to Sadies? That is the question

What is one nerve recking thing you've ever had to do for the opposite gender? When I went to high school, I was too shy to ask a guy out on a date or to even ask a question about homework. I look back and laugh at this. Could this be why I never enjoyed my high school years? And how I went from noticing the opposite gender and becoming so attractive to them and stopping from being myself around them? What a weird stage in my life! Anyways, good thing that is in the past for me.
Sadies?

Just some time ago, a friend of my sister's asked me to baked Sadies' cupcakes to ask her date out.

"This girl has the guts to ask a boy to Sadies," I thought to myself. I guess times are changing now, which are only making me feel OLD!

Back to my client. I asked the girl what she was looking for. What the theme was? What colors? All the good stuff to be creative.

"The theme is Super Heroes...and I want Spiderman cupcakes," she said to me. "Spiderman cupcakes it is!" I said to her.

While making the cupcakes and decorating them, I kept thinking about the past and how much I had wished I had asked someone to go to Sadies with me. I never had the courage to do it afraid to be rejected or something. But it all comes down to me being a shy girl even when there was no need!
...

The cupcakes made it to their destination! It was important for me to get these cupcakes delivered on time and just the way I had been asked to do them. So I did. Later, I heard the story from my sister and she showed me pictures of how her friend had come up with a cute way to ask him. Seriously, this girl went all out! She was not scared to do this,  but she rather decided to enjoy the moment. That is courage from a young lady. She set an example for me to not allow fear take over joy for amazing things happen to those who trust and believe!

So I ask all those who read my blog to seize the moment and enjoy the present. Do not let other thoughts ruin the beauty of life and what God brings to you! And most importantly, do not go on with life without any meaning, but live life with a purpose for His Kingdom! :)

4th year anniversary

What do you think?
A few nights ago, I got a call and a text message from my sister while driving. In the text message she asked me to pick up the phone because there was someone interested in purchasing cupcakes from me. "From me?" I asked myself as I was driving back from my Bible Studies. This was the first time someone had ever wanted to buy these delishness from me.

I decided to contact the girl and give it a shot, to sale cupcakes. The girl asked me to make a dozen of cupcakes to give to her boyfriend as their 4th year anniversary. Can you imagine the pressure I was under? Not only did I need to be creative, but I also had two other dozens of cupcakes to bake and decorate for my little sister's class to celebrate her 6th year birthday on this same day. It was a challenge to get started because I did not have everything I needed. I did not even have an idea as to what to do for the girl and her boyfriend. I, somehow, managed to use my imagination to decorate the cupcakes. Even when I spent all afternoon trying to perfect the cupcake decorations, I had so much fun. It was a learning experience for I learned to use all my resources and manage my mess (seriously, I freaked out and the kitchen was a chaos).

6th year birthday cupcakes

I was honored to bake for such an special occasion and to be entrusted with making this a gift to someone so dear and special to this young lady. Oh, and my little sister's classmates enjoyed their treats as well.

A cookie for your story

I'm starting my own business doing something I have the passion for, baking. Let me share with you how this just for fun activity became a passion to me. I started baking back in 2010 for family and friends. And it all started from baking cookies with a friend to share with others as a gift to them to enjoy. It had been my first time baking, but I wanted to do it again on my own. So I did.

I tried at home first because I did not want to embarrass myself in front of my friends. Good thing I chose to bake at home where I knew my family would support me whether I did it right or wrong.

Oh how I remember my first badges of cookies. Yes, I burned many of the cookies I baked, some badges of cookies even came out hard as rock, and let's not even mention the ones that never raised. I had some sad, funny, and frustrating moments just to get my cookies right. Even then, I never gave up! I tried and tried until I found the recipe that worked for me. This opened new horizons for me to try other goodies (recipes). Ever since, I have made cakes, sweets, cupcakes (my favorite) and more. Check out my site and let me know if you'd like to try any of my sweets. I'll post pictures of all the goodies I bake from now on, and I will also share the story behind them. Hope you enjoy them!

Remember: Life is sweeter with sprinkles and chocolate! :)
